The Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed extending the experiment on labeling certain types of packaged meat products, semi-finished products and frozen food products until August 31, 2026.
The draft of the relevant government decree has been published on a single portal for posting draft laws.
Starting from November 24, 2025, Russia has been conducting an experiment on voluntary labeling of certain types of packaged meat products, semi-finished products and frozen food products. Manufacturers, importers and sellers of meat products and semi-finished products, electronic document management operators and fiscal data operators participate in the experiment on a voluntary basis.
Initially, government decree No. 1823 dated 11/17/2025 stipulated that the experiment should last until February 28, 2026. Now the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposes to postpone the end date of the experiment to August 31, 2026.
The ministry explained that the extension of the experiment period will allow participants in the turnover of meat products to take additional measures to customize the technical solutions and business processes developed as part of the experiment for applying identification tools to the packaging of meat products and interacting with the labeling information system.
