GPB Bank (JSC) 26 May 2023 13:57 First Vice-President of Gazprombank Ekaterina Salugina-Fortieth took part in the session "The EAEU Climate Agenda – new trends and practical solutions", which took place on the sidelines of the II Eurasian Economic Forum.

During her speech, she noted that the EAEU countries face the task of creating economic incentives for decarbonization of enterprises and maintaining the competitiveness of national economies, and one of the tools to achieve these goals may be the formation of a full-fledged carbon market in the EAEU space. The successful development of such a tool will require a high level of cooperation, in particular, in determining the legal status of carbon units, validation, verification and accreditation of climate project verifiers, approaches to determining the baseline, as well as the formation of a unified methodological framework for the implementation of climate projects based on the best international practices.

"An example of successful cooperation was the approval of the model taxonomy of the EAEU green projects in early 2023. Now it is important to gain practical experience and attract green financing for EAEU projects. Gazprombank highly appreciates the potential of this instrument and is ready to consider the implementation of pilot projects," Ekaterina Salugina–Fortieth noted.
