At the 81st meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth member States in Tashkent, a memorandum on cooperation in the field of a unified information space for international railway passenger transportation was signed. It was joined by the railway administrations of Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, as well as Georgia.
On the Russian side, the document was signed by Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways.
The parties noted the need for coordinated actions and cooperation in the development of a unified information space in the field of international passenger rail transport, including multimodal and tourist.
"The development of a single information space for passenger transportation will have a positive impact on the transport connectivity of the Commonwealth countries, their economic growth and tourist attractiveness. In practical terms, this sets a vector for the development of technological processes in the passenger segment for each railway administration," Oleg Belozerov stressed.
The integrating link for automated passenger transportation management systems between railway administrations will be Express International, an auxiliary system that allows you to synchronize data on stations, international train schedules and generate summary data on various activities, including statistics, analytics, and financial settlements.
Express International does not provide the sale of seats on trains, the passenger buys a ticket from the carrier through the usual service channel. There, on the carrier's side, personal data is processed, the resource of seats on trains is managed and a travel document is issued. Connecting to Express International allows all involved reservation systems to quickly "find out" which railway to contact for information about a particular train, which travel options are available, and what the final amount to pay for the trip will be for the user.
The Memorandum is open for other railway administrations participating in the work of the Council on Railway Transport of the Commonwealth member States to join it.
