Kondaneft (part of the Rosneft oil production complex) has released more than 1.3 million Siberian sturgeon fry into the Irtysh River as part of a systematic effort to preserve biodiversity in the region of its operations. This species is listed in the Red Book of Russia and is a particularly valuable representative of the ichthyofauna, the restoration of which is of great importance for maintaining ecological balance in the region.

The release of juveniles was carried out in the water area of one of the largest rivers in Western Siberia. Successful adaptation and subsequent reproduction of sturgeon in the long term will contribute to the growth of numbers in their natural habitat and the preservation of the natural heritage of Yugra.

The large-scale action was the next step of the company in the implementation of the annual environmental program aimed at replenishing fish resources and maintaining ecological balance. Last year, the priority area of the program was the reproduction of pelage, a species of particular importance for the traditional fishing and lifestyle of the indigenous peoples of the region.

Stocking control was carried out by a special commission, which included representatives of authorized state bodies in the field of protection of aquatic biological resources, as well as independent industry experts, which ensures compliance with all environmental requirements when carrying out work on the release of juveniles.

Preserving the environment for future generations is an integral part of Rosneft's corporate culture. The activities of the Company's enterprises are aimed at improving the environmental friendliness of production and reducing environmental impact. Rosneft is systematically working to preserve biological diversity and replenish the country's aquatic biological resources.
