A seminar on the climate agenda of the Eurasian Economic Union was held at the headquarters of the Eurasian Economic Commission, which was attended by representatives of authorized bodies and the business community of the EAEU member States.

During the event, the main risks and opportunities for exporters of the Union countries related to the introduction of carbon regulation measures by the EAEU trading partners, in particular, the People's Republic of China, were discussed. Among other things, it was about the carbon footprint calculation system for a wide range of products.

"The EAEU does not yet have its own system for calculating the carbon footprint and verifying it. This creates risks for the export, investment attractiveness and technological development of our countries," said Andrei Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the EEC. "However, the necessary tools for creating such a system have already been laid down in the strategic documents of the EAEU until 2030 through the development of interstate standards."
According to the EEC Minister, the preparation of a plan for the development of these standards will begin in the near future.
