In January-February, Russian enterprises increased the production of chocolate and cocoa-containing packaged foods by 8.9% to 161.7 thousand tons compared to the same period in 2023. This was announced by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In general, the production of confectionery products during this period increased by 9.2% to 667.1 thousand tons. Thus, the production of sugar products without cocoa, including white chocolate, increased by 15% to 120.2 thousand tons. At the same time, in 2023, the average per capita consumption of confectionery products increased by 2.7% to 26.3 kg of sweets per person per year.

Vyacheslav Lashmankin, Executive Director of the Association of Confectionery Industry Enterprises Ascond, noted that this is due to an increase in export shipments and stable demand in the domestic market. Russian chocolate shipments abroad increased by more than 5% at the end of March compared to the same period in 2023.
