The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia presented the results of support for the domestic agro-industrial complex

Dmitry Pyshny, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, took part in an expanded meeting of the Federation Council Committee on Agrarian and Food Policy and Environmental Management. He presented the interim results of the department's work to achieve the technological sovereignty of the domestic agro-industrial complex.

"The tasks of scientific and innovative support for technological modernization of agriculture are basic, since they directly affect what place Russia will occupy in the global technological order. Today, we have all the opportunities to achieve the highest performance through joint efforts," Dmitry Pyshny stressed.

Within the framework of the national project "Science and Universities", 165 youth laboratories were created in 4 years, scientific laboratory equipment worth 4 billion rubles was purchased, more than 1.6 thousand researchers were involved in the most relevant areas: "genetics of agricultural plants and animals", "breeding" and "seed production". In addition, 35 breeding centers have been created on the basis of agricultural research centers and universities to promote innovations in production.

The federal project "Agrarian Science — a step into the future development of agriculture" promotes the creation of competitive varieties and hybrids and the development of new agricultural technologies aimed at the real sector of the economy. Thus, the base of agricultural machinery was updated, and the production of seeds of higher reproductions was increased by 152 thousand tons.

National Bioresource Centers have been established on the basis of scientific institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia to preserve and systematize bioresource collections.

A number of changes have taken place in the structure of agricultural universities — Institutes of fundamental and Applied agrobiotechnology have been established, training areas have been updated, educational programs have been updated with an emphasis on in-demand areas: agrobiotechnology, genetic technologies, phytosanitary control, robotization and digital technologies, drones for agriculture. According to these profiles, 48 online educational programs are implemented for students.

Recall that the Strategy of scientific and technological development of Russia was approved by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation on February 28, 2024 and provides for the transition to highly productive and environmentally friendly agriculture in the next 10-15 years, the development and implementation of systems for the rational use of chemical and biological protection of agricultural plants and animals, storage and efficient processing of agricultural products, as well as the creation of safe and high-quality products power supply.
