The RATA Aviation Training Center of Yakovlev PJSC of the United Aircraft Corporation has completed the training of the first group of 22 aircraft maintenance specialists to operate the newest Russian aircraft MS-21 with PD-14 engines.

The development of a training program for aviation personnel began immediately after Yakovlev PJSC received approval of the main changes to the MS-21 type certificate, allowing the production of an aircraft with a wing made of domestic composite materials and a Russian engine. In January 2024, the RATA Flight Center was certified according to training programs for specialists engaged in aircraft maintenance for the operation of the MS-21 with PD-14 engines.

"We have done serious work, which included the development and approval of operational documentation, training programs for aviation personnel for the MS-21, as well as the development of educational materials and coordination in the authorized body in the field of civil aviation of the teaching staff and the training procedure for starting groups. This is a proactive work so that by the time the aircraft is certified in Russian form, we already have personnel ready for its maintenance," said Andrey Boginsky, CEO of Yakovlev PJSC.

The first group of trainees was formed mainly at the expense of employees of the Yakovlev aviation technical complex in the city of Zhukovsky, which currently provides maintenance for SJ-100 aircraft. In addition, representatives of the Red Wings Airline and the Academy 033 Aviation training Center were trained.

Today, the RATA Aviation Training Center is a key element of the after-sales service system for the newest Russian aircraft manufactured by PJSC Yakovlev, training personnel for the operation of MC-21 and import-substituted SJ-100 aircraft.
