The Rosselkhoznadzor notes an increase in imports of fruit and vegetable products by 10% since the beginning of 2024

According to FGIS Argus-PHYTO as of April 14, since the beginning of this year, the Rosselkhoznadzor has monitored the supply of 2.5 million tons of fruit and vegetable products to Russia, which is 10% more than in the same period of 2023 – 2.3 million tons of goods.
 
Thus, this year the import of cabbage increased by 66.9%, the supply of onions and garlic increased by 55.5%, and the import of salad vegetables increased by 40.2%. The main supplier of cabbage is Uzbekistan, which has increased imports by 10.5 times. The export of onions and garlic to Russia has significantly expanded Kazakhstan by 5.7 times. Since the beginning of 2024, a number of countries have increased shipments of salad vegetables by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year.

Supplies to Russia also increased by tomatoes – by 29.2%, dried vegetables – by 27.4%, melons, watermelons, papaya – by 22.2%, root vegetables – by 21.6%, citrus fruits – by 20%, dried fruits – by 15.5%, stone fruits – by 14.9%, cucumbers – by 13.9%, other vegetables (peppers, zucchini) – by 13.6%, berries and other fruits – by 5.5%.

Banana shipments increased by 4.7% mainly due to countries such as Ecuador, China, Vietnam, and Costa Rica. Traditionally, Ecuador exports bananas in the largest volume. So, since the beginning of this year, 441.3 thousand tons of bananas have been imported from the Republic to Russia.

The main suppliers of fruit and vegetable products to Russia are the EAEU member states, Turkey, Egypt, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, China, India and others.
