The European Commission has approved the acquisition of sole control over the Danish division of Mercedes-Benz CPH A/S by the Dutch company Van Mossel Automotive International BV. This is reported in the press release of the EC.

The Commission concluded that the transaction, which primarily concerns the sale of passenger cars and spare parts, as well as the provision of car repair services, would not raise concerns about competition, given the limited market positions of the companies under the proposed transaction. The decision was made in accordance with the simplified procedure for reviewing merger transactions.

The parties to the deal signed an agreement in January 2024. The deal includes six branches in Copenhagen - Seborg, Horsholm, Hillered, Greve and Skovlunde, which will be part of Van Mossel Automotive International, the international division of the Van Mossel automotive group.

The deal is in line with Mossel Automotive International's strategy to expand its presence in Europe. As a result of the deal, the number of employees of Van Mossel Automotive International in Denmark, Germany and the UK increased to 1,500 people, and the company's turnover amounted to 1.0 billion euros.

After the completion of the transaction, which is expected in the second quarter of 2024, the branches will continue to operate under the name Mossel Copenhagen.

Mercedes-Benz CPH is the Danish division of Mercedes-Benz providing a full range of services in the passenger car and van sales sector, as well as a service partner of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Smart and Fuso. The company offers a wide range of products, including personal cars, commercial vans and used cars, as well as leasing services. The headquarters is located in Hersholm (Denmark).

Van Mossel Automotive Group is the largest automotive company in the Benelux countries. The company has 437 branches in Germany, France, the United Kingdom and the Benelux countries. The group includes dealerships selling 43 car brands. The company's annual turnover is $6.2 billion.
