International freight traffic on the Far Eastern Railway increased almost 1.4 times in 2024

Cargo transportation through the border crossings of the Far Eastern Railway (Far Eastern Railway) in the three months of 2024 amounted to more than 4.5 million tons. This is almost 1.4 times more than in the same period of 2023, the press service of the Far Eastern Railway reports.

"Export shipments to China through the Grodekovo (RF) - Suifenhe (PRC) border crossing amounted to almost 2.1 million tons - at the level of last year. <...> 60 thousand tons of imported goods were imported from China (an increase of 1.6 times)," the message said.

The press service added that export shipments to China through the Kamyshovaya (RF) - Hunchun (PRC) border crossing amounted to 976 thousand tons, which is 1.6 times more than in the same period of 2023. Export cargo transportation through the Nizhneleninskoye (RF) - Tongjiang (PRC) bridge railway border crossing in January - March 2024 reached 1.3 million tons (an increase of 2.5 times).

Earlier, the press service of the Far Eastern Railway noted that the volume of international freight traffic through the border areas of the Far Eastern Railway continues to grow. So, in 2023, it amounted to 14.7 million tons. This is 24.7% more than in 2022.
