April 19, 2024, Moscow – Students of the Mining and Metallurgical and Polytechnic colleges of Zheleznogorsk began their internship at the Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing Plant named after A.V. Varichev, part of Metalloinvest. More than 90 young people will get acquainted with the technological processes of the plant and gain practical work experience.

The best employees of the plant, many of whom have been teaching students for years, will explain the principles of operation of the equipment, share their personal experience and help them master the most important skill – the culture of occupational safety.

"The main thing is to be patient with the students and be sure to explain everything you do," said Alexander Gribinichenko, a car mechanic at the Mikhailovsky GOK Freight and Passenger Transportation Department. "Practice in the workplace teaches responsibility, instills a desire to strive to become the best in the profession."

Depending on the specialty, the practice is designed for 2.5-4 months. At this time, students are accepted into full-time jobs, go on shift, and receive salaries. They are covered by all the benefits of the plant's employees, including travel, food subsidies, and provision of personal protective equipment.

"I have been interested in cars since childhood, that's why I decided to study to be a car mechanic," says Ivan Tolstykh, a fourth–year student at the ZHMK.  – All the knowledge gained over several years in the classrooms, here in the repair boxes, lined up in a full-fledged picture. The production practice at MGOK has once again convinced me of the correctness of my choice."

The history of Mikhailovsky GOK's cooperation with specialized colleges and universities on the organization of industrial practice dates back more than 15 years. During this time, students from educational institutions of the Kursk, Voronezh and Oryol regions, St. Petersburg and Moscow have completed their internship here.

To help the students of Zheleznogorsk choose their future profession, the specialists of the Moscow State University organize career guidance classes for them.

Since 2021, the children also have the opportunity to visit the plant. This can be done in the format of an individual tour or along a special career guidance route for schoolchildren "I would go to the miners." To date, about 3,000 children have already visited the miners of the Mikhailovsky GOK.
