A carbon landfill was opened in Voronezh. SIBUR's pilot climate project "Green Formula" will be implemented there. SIBUR plans to plant 500 thousand trees on forest lands by the end of the year, at the moment the planting area has already amounted to 56 hectares. In the future, the area of the carbon landfill may amount to more than 2,600 hectares. This is stated in the company's message.

About 150 birches, poplars and pines have already been planted at the landfill. Poplar is considered one of the most promising tree species that effectively absorbs carbon dioxide, along with birch and larch, while thanks to breeding, these seedlings do not emit fluff.

As part of the systematic work to reduce the climatic impact, SIBUR plans to plant at least 5 million trees in the regions of the company's presence by 2025.

Recall that in early May 2022 SIBUR and Rosleskhoz signed a framework agreement on cooperation. An additional trilateral agreement was signed at the level of the Voronezh Region between the Forestry Department of the Voronezh Region, the Voronezh Enterprise SIBUR (Voronezhsintezkauchuk) and the VGLTU named after Morozov. The document establishes the mechanism of interaction between the parties in the implementation of climate projects in the field of forest relations.

SIBUR is the largest integrated petrochemical company in Russia. SIBUR processes by-products of oil and gas production. In 2020, SIBUR's revenue amounted to $7.2 billion, EBITDA – $2.5 billion.
