AK&M Information Agency announces top 15 M&A events in 1H20

AK&M Information Agency has announced the results of the top 15 M&A events hitting the market in the first half of 2020.

The ranking includes transactions involving Russian assets registered both in Russia and in other countries (provided that the assets were purchased there by Russian companies or sold by Russian owners).

The review includes mergers, acquisitions of 50% or a higher stake, consolidation of 50% or a higher stake, full takeover, acquisition of a majority stake (absent a controlling owner).

The second largest transaction of the period was the consolidation by Finland's Fortum Corporation of a 73.4% stake in Germany's Uniper which owns 83.73% of Russia-based Unipro PJSC for an estimated amount of $ 2.01 billion.

The third largest deal was the acquisition by Albert Avdolyan's A-Property of a 51% equity stake in the Elga coal project for $1.93 billion. These three are the only transactions in January-June 2020 exceeding $1 billion.
