German industrial company Robert Bosch GmbH has engaged consultants to evaluate the proposed acquisition of home appliance manufacturer Whirlpool Corp. This is reported in a Bosch press release.
In 2024, Whirlpool, with a market value of $5.4 billion, faced low demand for goods amid inflationary expectations of buyers.
The proposed deal is in line with Bosch's strategy of diversifying its core business and expanding its presence in other markets, as declining sales of electric vehicles led to a drop in demand from customers such as Volkswagen AG and BMW AG. Bosch was also a contender to acquire assets Johnson Controls International Plc in the heating and ventilation systems sector.
Robert Bosch GmbH is a German multinational engineering and technology company. Bosch is a major manufacturer of automotive and industrial equipment, as well as consumer and household goods under the Maytag and KitchenAid brands. The headquarters is located in Gerlingen (near Stuttgart, Germany).
