China's China Southern Power plans to acquire energy assets in Chile

Chinese energy company China Southern Power Grid Co. It has not reached a final agreement to acquire control of Transelec SA in Chile due to disagreements over the value of the deal. This is reported by foreign media.

Negotiations have been underway for two years and envisage a valuation of the company exceeding $4 billion. China Southern Power, which already owns a 28% stake in Transelec, has teamed up with Latin American-focused Patria Investments Ltd to jointly acquire assets.

The remaining 72% of Transelec shares belong to Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, British Columbia Investment Management Corp. and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board.

Transelec is the largest Chilean energy company for the management of high—voltage lines and the integration of generation centers with distributors in order to integrate renewable energy sources into the energy system. The headquarters is located in Santiago (Chile).

China Southern Power is a Chinese state—owned energy company with headquarters in Guangzhou (China).
