The ALROSA Investment Committee has approved an investment project to develop reserves in the deep horizons of the Udachnaya tube. This is stated in the company's message.

The implementation of the project will increase the mining period of the deposit until 2055 with annual production of over 4 million tons of diamond-bearing ore. The volume of investments is estimated at 20 billion rubles.

The project involves opening and working out horizons to a depth of 1.13 km from the surface — up to an absolute mark of -780 m (the surface mark is +355 m). Construction will be carried out in parallel with the deepening of mining operations and will last until 2040. It is planned to complete the testing no earlier than 2055. The previous Udachnaya pipe development project provided for the completion of production in 2039 at around -680 m.

To date, the deep horizons mining project has received all the necessary positive conclusions from Glavgosexpertiza. The feasibility study of the project has been approved.

The development of deep horizons will be carried out using already proven technology, which has proven to be effective and safe. Various digital systems are currently being tested at the underground mine.
