EVRAZ starts digitalization of Sheregeshskaya mine

EVRAZ has started implementing the project of digitalizing operation of the Sheregeshskaya mine. The use of modern digital technologies will increase industrial safety and improve efficiency of equipment operation, the company informed.

For the purpose of the project, a high-speed data transmission network based on fiber-optic communication lines (FOCL) and a wireless LTE network will be rolled out in the underground workings of the mine. The project is expected to be completed in 2021. Total investment will exceed RUB 200 million. Going forward, the use of up-to-date digital solutions will enable the company to increase crude ore production by 200,000 tonnes per year.

Sheregeshskaya mine is operating as part of the mining segment of EVRAZ ZSMK. Annual production reaches 4.8 million tonnes of crude ore per year.

EVRAZ is a vertically-integrated mining and metallurgical company with assets in Russia, Kazakhstan, the USA, Canada, the Czech Republic and Italy. The company is among the world's biggest steelmakers in terms of steel output. Its own base of iron ore and coking coal almost completely covers in-house demand. In 2019, EVRAZ produced 13.8 million tonnes of steel. Evraz's consolidated revenue for 2019 reached $11.9 billion, consolidated EBITDA amounted to $2.6 billion.
