Passenger transportation on Russian Railways increased by 1.5% during the New Year holidays. This is stated in the company's message.

From December 26 to January 11, 7.4 million passengers used long-distance trains. During this period, more than 9,000 passenger trains were dispatched.

Residents and guests of the capital most often left Moscow railway stations for St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh, Rostov-on-Don, Minsk, Kaliningrad.

The most popular date for the start of the trip was December 30th, and for the return — January 8th.

Travel by tourist train attracted 8% more people than in the previous year. The most popular retro train on holidays was the Ruskeala Express.

During this time, about 254 thousand people rode high—speed Peregrine Falcons, which is almost 3% more than a year ago.

The number of passengers on double-decker trains increased by 6%.

In 2025, passenger traffic on the Russian Railways network increased by 1.9% to 1.3 billion compared to a year earlier. In December 2025, 106.2 million passengers traveled, which is 1.2% more than a year earlier.
