Russian Railways and the Roads and Bridges company will build plants for the production of elements of artificial structures for the first Moscow–St. Petersburg high-speed railway. This is stated in the message of Russian Railways.
All necessary decisions on financing the project were made by the Board of Directors of Russian Railways.
About 30% of the path of the first high-speed highway will pass above the ground. About 180 km of artificial structures are to be built. They will be built using more than 5,000 box—shaped reinforced concrete beams, each 32 m long and weighing more than 700 tons.
It is difficult to transport this oversized item by road. To simplify logistics and withstand the high pace of construction, Russian Railways and Roads and Bridges will build 10 factories along the Moscow–St. Petersburg high-speed railway.
It is planned to build production sites as soon as possible and to start production of reinforced concrete beams from April 2026.
The St. Petersburg - Moscow high–speed railway is an infrastructure project whose main goal is to reduce travel time between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The length of the highway will be 679 km, and the non—stop travel time will be 2 hours and 15 minutes. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2028.
High-speed communication creates positive effects for the tourism industry, the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation said earlier. Maxim Reshetnikov. Tourists will make up more than 30% of the HSR passenger traffic, and the project itself can provide an additional 500,000 tourists per year, which would not exist without the highway.
