Siemens Smart Infrastructure has expanded its cooperation with the Italian distribution network operator (DSO) AcegasApsAmga. The operator has created a digital twin of the medium and low voltage power grid in Trieste in Italy using the Gridscale X software from Siemens. This is stated in the message from Siemens.
This step will increase operational transparency. It will also ensure the achievement of the objectives of electrification and decarbonization of the Municipality of Trieste, including the electrification of its congested port. Currently, the port handles over 70 million tons of cargo per year.
The collaboration will allow the operator to use Siemens digital twin technology to simulate, monitor and manage energy flows in real time. This will ensure efficient operation and support the Sustainable Development Goals.
