Singapore-based Thunes acquires American payment platform Tilia

Thunes, a Singapore-based global cross-border payments company, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the American unified payment platform Tilia LLC. This is reported in the Thunes press release.

The deal is aimed at expanding Thunes' presence in the United States and strengthening its position in the fast-growing online gaming market. As part of the deal, the Thunes global network will be available throughout the United States, including Tilia customers, for real-time payments through 4 billion bank accounts, 3 billion digital wallets and 550 alternative payment methods (APM). Using Tilia technology, Thunes will be able to offer Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB and UnionPay services to customers.

Thunes and Linden Research, Inc. (Linden Lab), Tilia's majority shareholder, have entered into an exclusive five-year partnership agreement, under which, after the transaction closes, Thunes will provide payment processing and payments to Linden Lab customers using the Thunes global network, which allows you to pay and receive money in real time in a more cost-effective way with increased transparency. 

Subject to regulatory approval, Tilia will be renamed Thunes and will retain an office in San Francisco, California after the transaction is completed.
