The Eurasian Economic Commission has received a proposal from the Russian Federation to provide a tariff exemption for six months in respect of butter imported into Russia in the amount of no more than 30 thousand tons, this is reported on the EEC website.

The proposal is aimed at curbing the growth of consumer prices for socially important food products and preventing its shortage in the domestic market, the EEC materials emphasize.

The discussion procedure will last until November 22, 2024.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, following a meeting with the participation of departments, as well as producers and processors of dairy products, gave a number of instructions to departments to stabilize butter prices in the domestic market. It was noted at the meeting that imports from a number of countries were activated to stabilize prices.

Butter in Russia has risen in price by almost 25% since the beginning of the year, according to Rosstat.
