State Duma deputies at the plenary session adopted in the second and third readings amendments to Article 161 of the Law of the Russian Federation "On Consumer Rights Protection" aimed at protecting the rights of users of digital subscriptions. This is stated in the message of the State Duma.

"Now, subscription services are required to accept a user's refusal to use previously provided bank account details. It will be possible to do this, including in electronic form," the Chairman of the State Duma said. Vyacheslav Volodin, whose words are quoted in the message.

"In this case, the extension of the paid service will be banned," he added.

"The adopted law will protect citizens from the automatic write—off of their funds without consent," - said V.Volodin.

Previously, citizens drew attention to the fact that they face automatic debit of funds from bank cards for the renewal of subscriptions, often without notification of this, and also have difficulty canceling the service.
