Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed the Government of the Russian Federation to constantly monitor the formation of prices for motor vehicles in order to prevent unjustified price increases for them. The corresponding instruction is published on the Kremlin's website.
The Cabinet of Ministers should also take measures to increase the availability of passenger cars for Russian citizens. A target indicator should be defined that characterizes the increase in such accessibility in 2023 compared to 2022. The indicator will be calculated quarterly.
The Government must submit a report on this issue by April 15, 2023. Then it will be necessary to report every quarter.
The automotive market, according to the Association of European Businesses, decreased by 61.6% year-on-year in November 2022.
