Tomsk State University hosted the Second International Forum of Associations and Consortia of the Northern Territories (FACST-2024). The main focus of the event is "Sustainable development of the Arctic – sustainable development of the planet". Within the framework of the forum, a conference was held with TSU industrial partners and government representatives, where participants presented new materials, functional nutrition and other products and technologies that were developed specifically for use in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation.
The conference was held in the format of four tracks: "Arctic Chemistry", "Healthy nutrition in the Arctic", "Technological entrepreneurship in the Russian Arctic", "Development of BAS". Along with scientists, Titan-SM LLC, the Foundation for Scientific and Technological Development of Yugra, Innopharm-DV, PK Composite LLC (Novosibirsk), NGK-Tomsk LLC and other companies took part in them.
The research developments presented at the FACST forum are intended for various fields, including the extractive industry, which plays a special role in the development of the richest resources of the Arctic. Thus, TSU scientists are developing selective solvents for processing and enriching minerals in the Arctic zone of Russia. They presented the results of their work to the industrial partners. Maria Fufayeva, a representative of the IKHN SB RAS, made a presentation on "Cryogels for the construction, development of oil and gas fields in the Arctic and extending the life of winter roads." These and other technologies of Russian scientists, presented at the FACST forum, can be implemented in the near future.
Special attention at the FACT forum was paid to improving the quality of life of the Arctic population. Nutrition plays a big role in this. On the other hand, wild plants growing in the AZ of the Russian Federation can be used for the production of environmentally friendly food products.
Representative of the Yakut Scientific Center SB RAS Konstantin Stepanov devoted his report to the topic "Creation of specialized and functional healthy food products based on the raw materials of the Arctic territories". Head of the Scientific Information and Research Center of Artlife LLC Roman Marchenko presented specialized nutrition and dietary supplements for the northern regions. Among the participants who presented their achievements in the field of health and nutrition were PC Composite LLC, the Research Institute of Biochemistry of FITZ FTM, YANIISH FITZ YANZ SB RAS and others.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Tomsk Region took part in the block dedicated to entrepreneurship. The main focus of the discussion was the training of technological entrepreneurship, the involvement of indigenous peoples in innovative ecosystems, the search for startups to solve the technological problems of the Arctic and the North and the tasks of corporations.
Drones have a special role to play in the development of the Arctic. The forum participants reviewed the training of personnel for UAS, promising technologies for drones, and the creation of a Center for testing UAS certification.
Let's add that FACST acts as a platform where consortia and associations engaged in research of the Arctic and other northern regions gather. The forum allows you to coordinate research agendas, helps generate ideas for joint projects and serves as a link between scientists, government and entrepreneurs implementing new technologies in the Arctic.
