World Water Resources Day, established by the UN General Assembly, is celebrated annually on March 22. The date is intended to draw the attention of mankind to the need to take care of one of the main natural values - fresh water and its reasonable use.

Rosneft is focused on the rational use of water resources within the framework of its activities and is taking measures to protect and replenish them. At all stages of the production cycle, the Company works to ensure responsible use of water resources. The corporate Program for improving environmental efficiency and plans to modernize production facilities provide for a further reduction in water intake from natural sources, an increase in the share of recycled and reused water, environmentally sound use of associated reservoir waters, and the introduction of modern wastewater treatment systems.

The share of recycled and reused water in the Company exceeds 93.7% of the total volume of water used for production needs. ISS (Institutional Shareholder Services), the largest international investment and consulting agency, highly appreciated Rosneft's activities in the field of environmental protection, including the Company in the group of leaders in the environmental rating. For the third year in a row, the largest Russian non-credit agency RAEX has awarded Rosneft an ESG rating of AA, which confirms that the Company's activities in the field of sustainable development, including in the environmental field, are at a very high level.

Rosneft's subsidiaries maintain high standards of environmental safety in the field of water management in the regions where they operate.

In the field of oil refining and petrochemistry, the Achinsk Refinery in the Krasnoyarsk Territory carried out the reconstruction of treatment facilities in 2025 to increase the efficiency of its reuse. As a result of the modernization of the water supply network, cooling towers and automation of process water cooling modes, the share of recycled water for the production needs of the enterprise has increased to 95%.

Rosneft additionally implements effective natural solutions for water purification in production. The phytofiltration technology at the wastewater treatment unit is used by Rosneft refineries in the Samara region. The pioneer of the introduction was the Kuibyshev Refinery, where plants such as water hyacinths (eichornia), pancracium and calamus vulgaris help to obtain a high degree of disinfection of wastewater. Eichornia seedlings have proven themselves well at the treatment plants of the Syzran and Novokuibyshevsky refineries.

Novokuibyshevsky Oil Refinery in the Samara region implements a comprehensive environmental program, one of the directions of which is the protection of water resources. Its implementation has improved the quality of wastewater by 36% over the past few years. One of the key projects is the commissioning of an innovative water treatment unit with a membrane bioreactor. This allowed the company to ensure the return of treated wastewater to the recycled water supply system. The project has made it possible to achieve a 97% share of the company's circulating water supply.

One of Rosneft's key environmental investment projects, the biological treatment plant complex of the Ufa Group of Bashneft Refineries, has processed 185 million m3 of wastewater since its launch in 2019. BOS serve not only Bashneft's refineries, but also provide a high level of wastewater treatment for more than 40 enterprises in the northern industrial zone of Ufa and stormwater runoff. Thanks to the membrane reactor technology, impurities and microorganisms are removed from wastewater. As a result, the water quality meets the standards required for fisheries reservoirs.

The Angarsk Petrochemical Company in the Irkutsk region uses a closed water supply cycle - the company's recycling system ensures the reuse of 90% of the water. Wastewater from the city of Angarsk and industrial enterprises also passes through the company's sewage treatment plants.

In the field of oil and gas production at the fields of the Vankor cluster located in the basins of the Yenisei River and its tributary, Bolshaya Kheta, RN–Vankor environmentalists constantly monitor water bodies and the coastal strip located near production sites. RN-Vankor specialists, together with accredited laboratories, regularly monitor the condition of wastewater treatment plants, analyze the environmental situation and the state of biota in reservoirs. Wastewater parameters are also being monitored for 23 indicators. In 2025, RN-Vankor ecologists took 316 samples of wastewater and 664 samples of natural water and sediments.

With the support of RN-Nyaganneftegaz, construction of a modern water treatment plant in Nyagan has begun, which will increase the capacity of the city's water treatment facilities three times to 30 thousand m3 of water per day and will provide more than 60 thousand residents of Nyagan with high-quality drinking water that meets modern sanitary standards.

A modern reservoir pressure maintenance system has been developed at the Samotlorskoye field, which has made it possible to completely eliminate water intake from open sources. To maintain pressure in the reservoir, raw water is used, purified by gravity sedimentation in special tanks. This ensures the operation of the PPD system in a closed technological cycle. Samotlorneftegaz also uses reservoir water during multi-stage hydraulic fracturing operations. The introduction of an innovative method has already made it possible to eliminate water intake in the amount of more than 300 thousand m3.

In 2025, Orenburgneft continued to implement measures to reduce water consumption. The company at the Pokrovskoye field transferred the injection well stock to injection of raw water into the reservoir from the Pokrovskaya pumping station.

Samaraneftegaz also uses water in the operation of the reservoir pressure maintenance system, which is separated from the oil-containing liquid during production. This saves natural resources and increases the efficiency of production processes at the company's facilities.

In the field of oil products supply, RN-North-West has equipped rest rooms at the Rosneft filling station in St. Petersburg with automated drainage systems, which allowed saving water consumption and increasing the comfort level for visitors. In the Leningrad Region, the treatment facilities were serviced at the Vladimirovsky country hotel complex, which improved the quality of water purification. Innovative drinking water supply has been introduced in the guest recreation areas of Vladimirovsky, which has reduced its consumption.

The Company's subsidiaries constantly carry out measures to conserve and enhance aquatic biological resources in their regions of operation. They replenish populations of valuable fish species in water basins, carry out environmental actions to clean up the coastlines of rivers and lakes, improve natural springs, as well as develop a culture of rational and responsible consumption of natural resources and conduct educational work among the population.

Employees of the Saratov Oil Refinery, as part of the responsible waste management program, collected 82 kg of plastic caps and purchased fry of herbivorous fish - carp, carp carp and white Amur. These fish species clean the Volgograd reservoir of excess vegetation, which is of great importance for the preservation of its ecosystem.

One of the Company's offices in Moscow received the Green Office gold certificate for its success in reducing consumption of all types of resources, including water. Thanks to the implementation of efficiency measures, water consumption has decreased by 20%.

Responsible attitude to the environment is an integral part of the corporate culture and one of the key principles of Rosneft's activities. Demonstrating its commitment to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Company implements a comprehensive program for the conservation of water resources, including the introduction of advanced technological solutions.
