On September 24, the almost monthly scheduled maintenance of the infrastructure at the Elbrus resort is coming to an end. After that, the tracking season will continue, and preparations for winter will reach the finish line. Thanks to the launch of artificial snowmaking systems on the two lower stages of the cable cars, the ski season is scheduled to open in the second half of November.

In 2024, the resort equalized summer and winter tourist flows for the first time. This was facilitated by the construction of an ecotrope network of various levels of complexity. This summer, two new trails dedicated to the heroic defense of the Elbrus region were opened for the anniversary of the Great Victory. At the end of the season, the summer tourist flow amounted to about 230 thousand people.

In the winter season, the resort launches an artificial snowmaking system at altitudes of 2350-3500 meters. The first stage was commissioned at the beginning of the year, and the second stage is currently being completed. This will allow you to even out the quality of riding on the lower and upper slopes. In addition, a night lighting system is being put into operation: 54 masts with lamps are being installed on the Krugozor — Polyana Azau site, three of them are 25 meters high. This will make evening skiing possible and increase the resort's opening hours.

Two modern cable cars and six trails with a total length of 5.2 km are being built in the eastern sector at altitudes of 3300-3500 meters. Construction of a modern service center in the Azau Clearing is beginning, residents are ready to start construction of new chain hotels and a climbing town. The total amount of declared investments of residents of the SEZ "Elbrus" is 36.5 billion rubles.

"The Elbrus resort is becoming year-round. In 2024, for the first time, the summer tourist flow equaled the winter one, which was facilitated by the development of the ecotrope network. In the upcoming season, we are focusing on winter infrastructure: we are launching snowmaking and evening lighting systems, and expanding the ski areas. This will increase the bandwidth and improve the quality of the service. Our goal is to reach the figure of one million tourists per year, and the ongoing projects give every reason for this," said the Deputy Minister of Economic Development. Sergey Nazarov.

In 2023-2024, the resort almost completely switched to domestic provision. Russian manufacturers supply most of the spare parts and components for cable cars. During recent maintenance work, the engines that had worked 50,000 hours were replaced, the rollers, brakes and clamps were inspected and replaced, and the cabins were updated.

"We are consistently modernizing the resort: we are building new trails and cable cars, updating technical equipment, and preparing comfortable recreation and accommodation areas. It is important for us that Elbrus remains a true symbol of Russian mountain tourism, a place where modern service is combined with unique nature," said Kavkaz CEO.RF Andrey Yumshanov.
