At a meeting of the Russian Government, it was decided to finalize plans for the development of transport and logistics corridors and update the list of relevant activities for the first half of the year. This was announced on March 30 by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

These plans, he noted, are complex in nature and include both the expansion of the Baikal-Amur Mainline and the Trans-Siberian Railway, as well as the development of highways, waterways and an increase in the capacity of seaports, as well as, very importantly, the modernization of checkpoints across the state border.

The solution of the tasks set will allow to reorient cargo flows and expand trade and economic ties with friendly countries, primarily South and Southeast Asia, the Caspian region, Transcaucasia, the Persian Gulf and Africa.

"Based on the results of our discussion, we will finalize plans for the development of transport corridors and update the final list of activities by the end of the first half of the year. It is important that all of them are fully funded," he stressed.

On the eve of Rosmorrechflot announced the start of dredging operations on the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Channel ahead of schedule.

Reliable provision of navigation safety and progressive expansion of the capacity of the Volga-Caspian Sea Shipping Channel are key conditions for the effective operation of the route of the Trans–Caspian water route, an important link of the international transport corridor "North-South".

In order to fulfill the instructions of the President of Russia and achieve this year's target at the VKMSK - the passage of vessels with a draft of 4.5 m - the largest dredging equipment group in history has been created under the management of Rosmorrechflot, which should ensure the solution of this task in the conditions of the continuing drop in the level of the Caspian Sea.
