Gazprom Nedra (LLC) 19 September 2023 13:27 On September 15-16, Gazprom Nedra LLC conducted a tactical and special exercise to eliminate emergencies during the construction of exploration and evaluation wells on the Arctic shelf. The event was organized in the area of well construction by the Arctic self-drilling rig. In addition to the company's specialists, contractors working at the facility took part in it, emergency rescue and transport-towing vessels, support vessels, a helicopter and an icebreaker were involved.

The exercises were conducted in two stages. On September 15, emergencies that could potentially arise during the construction of wells on the shelf (fire on the drilling platform, oil spill, search and rescue of people in the open Sea) were simulated in the waters of the Kara Sea, and joint actions were worked out to eliminate them.

On September 16, as part of the second stage of the exercise, actions were worked out to search, monitor and change the trajectory of the iceberg, preventing the threat of its collision with the drilling platform. During the event, the selected ice object weighing about 150 thousand tons was towed, which ensured a change in the direction of its drift and passage at a safe distance from the conditional drilling point.

The results of the tactical-special exercise confirmed the compliance of the forces and means attracted by Gazprom Nedra LLC with the standards for safe exploration in the Arctic, as well as the readiness of the units involved in the event to respond to possible threats.
