The cooperation agreement was signed by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Olga Lyubimova, Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation, and Alla Manilova, Director of the State Russian Museum.
Preservation of cultural heritage
The Russian Museum will act as the center for coordinating projects for the development of the national School of Restoration. Among the key projects is the creation of a single intermuseum restoration research center and the development of restoration workshops in the regions of the Russian Federation. In the future, it is planned to develop a regional network of specialized scientific and restoration centers based on workshops. It is also planned to create a single digital information resource for the exchange of professional experience and the dissemination of unique restoration techniques.
A new generation of restorers
An important area of cooperation between the parties is to create the foundations for educating a new generation of restorers and transferring to them the invaluable knowledge of the best specialists in the country. Gazprom's experience gained during the implementation of the Friends of St. Petersburg project will be widely used for this purpose. The project, in particular, is aimed at involving talented young people in the profession of museum restorer.
The agreement provides for the development of an internship system for undergraduates at universities and colleges under the guidance of qualified mentors. Regular research and restoration activities will also be planned for young professionals. Among other things, they will be held in Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions of the Russian Federation. As part of the annual national festival, young restorers will be able to share their achievements and experiences with each other.
The parties to the agreement will promote the development of the volunteer movement and involve everyone in the restoration business.
Alexey Miller:
"For many years Gazprom has been systematically supporting large-scale projects in the field of preserving the country's cultural heritage and historical memory. Together with the State Russian Museum, we consistently implement programs to develop and promote the traditions of the Leningrad School of Restoration, which has been and remains a benchmark for the quality and careful restoration of historical and cultural objects. The experience of Leningrad restoration masters is used by specialists all over the world. Our goal is not just to preserve it, but to multiply and expand it.
Within the framework of Gazprom's Friends of St. Petersburg project, training programs in the field of restoration are already being conducted for students of specialized universities. The trilateral agreement will allow us to scale this work to the whole country and attract new talented young specialists to it. And may they always be united by loyalty to traditions and creative work, which are the glory and pride of the Leningrad school of restoration."
Olga Lyubimova:
"The development of the national school of restoration is an important task for the preservation of the cultural heritage of the state.
Since 2019, the State Russian Museum and Gazprom have been working effectively together in the field of comprehensive scientific restoration of museum valuables. A trilateral agreement with the participation of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will strengthen this cooperation and allow for real synergy.
By combining the accumulated experience and knowledge, we will be able to take the restoration work to a new level. It is important that the best techniques and practices will be available for study and use throughout the country. Under the strict guidance of mentors, talented young people will have the opportunity to learn the necessary skills and preserve the national heritage for future generations."
Russian Russian Museum's world-famous restoration school is distinguished by its unsurpassed skill and high professional class of specialists, its careful attitude to priceless works of art and its time-tested traditions: the restoration workshops at the Russian Museum were founded more than 100 years ago. The Russian Museum responds to the challenges of modernity and is always ready to help colleagues to bring the affected works back to life.
The agreement on the development of the national school of restoration will allow us to educate a whole galaxy of young professionals who, based on the many years of experience of their mentors, will be able to use the latest high-tech achievements of Russian science in their work."
