On July 2, as part of the Year of Ecology, announced atIn Yamal in 2022, employees of the Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy enterprise held an annual environmental campaign "Clean City" for cleaning urban and adjacent territories.
The site chosen for the subbotnik is the area of the Varengayakha River, a place of rest for citizens. The scope of work is quite large-scale. In just a few hours of cleaning, about 20 tons of waste were collected and removed — two trucks with car tires and construction debris.
Automotive and construction waste is a serious environmental problem. Toxins released during their decomposition pollute water, air and soil. At the same time, the terms of decay reach 100 years or more.
As part of the Year of Ecology in Yamal, environmental projects are being implemented at the gas—producing enterprise and measures are planned, the purpose of which is to reduce the share of waste sent to landfill, reduce methane emissions into the atmosphere, and increase the efficiency of environmental protection activities.
