A new accounting procedure for farm animals has been introduced in the Moscow region. On the territory of the entire Russian Federation, from March 1, 2024, the "Veterinary rules for labeling and accounting of animals" came into force, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Ministry of Defense.

"Now in the territory of the region, more than 111 thousand heads of cattle, 22 thousand heads of small cattle, 224 thousand heads of pigs, 8 million heads of birds and 2 thousand heads of horses are accounted for in the FGIS VETIS component "Horriot". Work on the introduction of animals continues on an ongoing basis. Since March 1, mandatory federal labeling has been introduced for primary labelled farm animals. The measures will help identify the sources and ways of spreading animal pathogens and ensure the safety and quality of agricultural products in the region," said Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region - Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladislav Murashov, quoted in the message.

Labeling will allow you to view complete information about farm animals, including origin, species, breed, owners, date and place of birth, as well as the results of diagnostic studies.

The owners must put unique numbers assigned to animals by the Rosselkhoznadzor on tags, collars or electronic tags.

All marking tools used are resistant to external influences, safe for animal health and provide visual and electronic readability.
