BEAC will help the Nizhny Novgorod region in the implementation of green projects

The BEAC and the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region signed a memorandum of cooperation in the field of ESG and environmental protection. This is stated in the message of the BEAC.

The purpose of cooperation is to ensure a coordinated policy in the field of ecology, the creation of a favorable natural environment and conditions for improving the environmental situation, reducing household waste and the development of previously implemented ESG projects.

The document, in particular, provides for: improving the ecological culture of the population and related social skills, financial and digital literacy; development of a paperless work culture in budget institutions, the business community and housing and communal services; environmental expertise of programs and investment projects; development of environmental education and upbringing; implementation of the principles of sustainable development; cooperation in the field of greening and obtaining ESG-conclusions for enterprises of the Nizhny Novgorod region and their suppliers.

In August 2021, it was in the Nizhny Novgorod region that the Beac launched a pilot project to develop a regional ESG model: within the framework of it, the state of the region was diagnosed by key ESG factors, interviews with government representatives were conducted, strategic goals for ESG directions were formulated, and recommendations were formed. For further ESG transformation of the region, an ESG Competence Center has been established on the basis of the Corporate University of the Government of the Nizhny Novgorod Region.

The remaining 50% minus 1 voting share of the bank's authorized capital is owned by Russian and international investors.
