In the Khabarovsk Territory and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), a federal emergency regime has been introduced for the operational build-up of forces. The introduction of an emergency regime according to a simplified procedure, which was adopted this year, will allow the subjects to increase the forces and means to eliminate fires and not repeat the crisis of 2021. This is reported by Rosleskhoz.

"The emergency regime of federal significance is being introduced for the first time, in those areas that are now burning in Yakutia and the Khabarovsk Territory. Last year, due to administrative barriers, we simply did not have the right to use federal forces in burning Yakutia until the fires reached the necessary criteria. With the support of the President, these criteria have been significantly reduced, which means that the regions will receive the necessary assistance in time," commented Russian Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology Alexander Kozlov, quoted in the message.

Since the beginning of 2022 and on July 19, the total area of forest fires in these regions is 3.2 times lower compared to the same period last year and amounts to 603.4 thousand hectares (1.9 million hectares in 2021). The number of fires is also significantly lower - by 1.7 times. Such results have been achieved thanks to the rapid detection of fires and their elimination.

"After the introduction of emergency situations under the simplified procedure, the issue of involving the additional services of neighboring regions and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia will be considered. In the Khabarovsk Territory and Yakutia, more than 550 Aviation Security fighters are already working in the framework of interregional maneuvering," said the head of the Federal Forestry Agency Ivan Advisers, also quoted in the message.
