Hitachi acquires German MA micro automation

Hitachi Ltd., one of the largest Japanese electronics companies, has entered into an agreement to acquire MA micro automation GmbH from MAX Management GmbH, a subsidiary of MAX Automation SE, for 71.5 million euros. This is reported in a Hitachi press release.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the second half of 2024, subject to the usual regulatory requirements, including regulatory approval. 

Upon completion of the transaction, MA micro automation will join JR Automation Technologies, LLC, a subsidiary of Hitachi to develop digital technologies for integrating robotic systems as part of expanding the company's global geographical presence and strengthening its position in the European region. 

Hitachi, Ltd acquired JR Automation in 2019 in accordance with strategic plans aimed at ensuring uninterrupted communication between physical and cyberspace for industrial manufacturers and distributors. 

MA micro automation is a German provider of robotic and automated technologies (robotic SI) for microassembly, including high-speed linear loading and unloading systems, high-precision assembly lines, assembly and testing of medical and optical components and high-speed visual inspection technologies for users in Europe, North America and Southeast Asia. The company was founded in 2003 through the allocation of assets from Siemens and has been part of the MAX Automation Group since 2013. The headquarters is located in Leon Roth (Germany).  

JR Automation Technologies develops customized solutions for automation of production processes to reduce customer production costs and improve process quality in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, etc. The company operates 21 manufacturing plants in North America, Europe and Asia. The headquarters is located in Holland (Michigan).

Hitachi, Ltd. It is one of the largest electronics manufacturers in the world and is one of the "Big Five" Japanese companies along with Fujitsu Limited, Toshiba Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and NEC Corporation. Hitachi manufactures semiconductors, personal computers, household audio and video equipment, telecommunications equipment and medical electronic equipment, as well as deals with energy and industrial systems, including nuclear and hydroelectric power plants, control and measuring equipment. Hitachi comprises three business sectors (Digital Systems & Services, Green Energy & Mobility and Connective Industries) with 573 consolidated subsidiaries, whose revenue in 2023 amounted to 8.5 billion yen. The headquarters is located in Tokyo (Japan).
