A ban on sugar exports has been introduced in Russia

A temporary ban on the export of cane or beet sugar and chemically pure sucrose is being introduced in Russia. The decree on this has been signed, the Russian Government announced.

The restriction will be in effect until August 31, 2024. The decision is aimed at maintaining the stability of the domestic food market.

The resolution provides for a number of exceptions. Thus, sugar supplies will be possible to the EAEU countries in certain volumes: to Armenia – 28 thousand tons, to Belarus – 5 thousand tons, to Kazakhstan – 120 thousand tons, to Kyrgyzstan – 28.5 thousand tons.

The Ministry of Agriculture has been instructed to distribute these volumes among participants in foreign trade activities.
