Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) is currently considering an application from Puratos N.V. and Puratos Group N.V. for preliminary consent to combined acquisition of an equity stake in Ruskhleb Research LLC. The size of the stake is not disclosed, the competition authority informed.
All stakeholders have the right to submit information about how the deal applied for will influence the competition in relevant commodity markets to the antimonopoly body.
According to Kommersant, Dmitry Novikov, a co-owner of Rosengineering, the general contractor for a number of Olympic facilities in Sochi, decided to pull out of the business of raw materials for the baking and confectionery industries. He plans to dispose of his plant with a capacity of 20,000 tonnes in St. Petersburg to Belgium's Puratos, one of the leading industry players. The deal will strengthen the European company's positions in the Russian bakery and confectionery markets with a turnover of RUB 1.5 trillion per year.
