Russian Railways increases throughput of Greater Ring of the Moscow Railway

Russian Railways continues to reconstruct the northern part of the Greater Ring of the Moscow Railway as part of the comprehensive Central Transport Hub development project, the company informed.

In 2020, 25 km of the secondary main tracks were laid on the Naugolny-Zheltikovo and Zheltikovo-Kostino sections. The maximum movement speed along the renovated sections will increase from 85 to 120 km/h for passenger trains, from 70 to 90 km/h for freight trains.

The total length of the Greater Ring of the Moscow Railway is about 550 km. The orbital railway mainly located in Moscow region connects the key marshalling yards Orekhovo-Zuyevo and Bekasovo.

Russian Railways is one of the world's top three railway operators. The company started operation on October 1, 2003. The founder and sole shareholder of JSC Russian Railways is the Russian Federation. The Government of Russia exercises the shareholder's powers on behalf of the Russian Federation. IFRS net profit of Russian Railways for 2019 increased 4.4 times to RUB 155.738 billion from RUB 35.408 billion a year earlier. Revenue increased by 3.9% to RUB 2.507 trillion from RUB 2.413 trillion. Profit before tax amounted to RUB 193.437 billion against RUB 68.398 billion.
