The volume of exports of medicines and pharmaceutical products from EU countries to Russia in 2023 amounted to 8.8 billion euros. This is evidenced by the data from Eurostat.
A year earlier, 11.5 billion euros worth of medicines were exported to Russia. Thus, the volume of exports decreased by 23%. Russia's share in total European exports was 3.2%.
In total, exports of medicines and pharmaceutical products from the EU to countries outside the EU in 2023 decreased by 3.5% to 277 billion euros.
Imports to the EU increased by 6.1% to 119 billion euros. The largest importers were the United States, which accounts for 39.5% of all drug imports to the EU, followed by Switzerland (32.3%) and the United Kingdom (6.9%).
