The Global Financial Forum ECUMENE 2022 was held with the support of Gazprombank

The final session of the ECUMENE 2022 Global Financial Forum was held in Moscow on September 28-30 with the support of Gazprombank, which acted as a general partner. During the session, the speakers discussed Russia's continued fulfillment of its obligations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The Russian Federation joined the Paris Climate Agreement in September 2019. According to it, countries should keep the increase in the total average temperature of the Earth within 1.5–2 °C.

The session was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank Elena Borisenko, as well as the First Deputy Chairman of VEB.Russian Federation – Board Member Alexey Miroshnichenko, Member of the Board (Minister) for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev, Sixth Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), UN Deputy Secretary-General Eric Solheim, UN Goodwill Ambassador, Chairman of the Central Council of the All-Russian Society for Nature Conservation Vyacheslav Fetisov, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Bakhtiyor Khakimov. The closing session was moderated by Maxim Safonov, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The participants discussed one of the most important problems facing humanity – the fight against global climate change and Russia's role in this process. After all, the importance of our country's natural ecosystems is extremely important for the whole planet.

"Energy transfer is impossible without taking into account the peculiarities and needs of all its participants, and I hope that the decisions of the upcoming 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will give a new impetus to the climate agenda and other issues within the framework of sustainable development. At the same time, the main key to a successful energy transition is a "fair energy transition", which can be facilitated by transitional financing instruments. The discussions of these three days proved once again that Gazprombank has chosen the right vector of development, and our colleagues and partners are also choosing this path. Gazprombank has already accumulated a lot of expertise in the field of sustainable development and will be happy to share it and move forward with our current and new customers," said Elena Borisenko, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank.

During the final day of the forum, the sessions "Continuous learning in Russia: opportunities and breakthroughs", "Sustainable development of the Arctic region", "Blue Finance", as well as the session "Financial Intermediaries", where one of the speakers was the Head of the Center for the Implementation of the Principles of Sustainable Development of Gazprombank Evgeny Khilinsky.

During the three days of the ECUMENE 2022 Global Financial Forum, 16 sessions were held, which were attended by more than 120 speakers from 23 countries of the world. The key missions of the forum are to promote Russia's position within the framework of the global sustainable development agenda, the formation of new trends in ESG for the period from 2030 to 2050, and the implementation of the UN Common Agenda program.
