The American energy company Cypress Creek Renewables has entered into an agreement with Swift Current Energy to acquire Steel River's solar energy assets in Arkansas. This is reported in a press release from Cypress Creek.
The deal aims to strengthen Cypress Creek's position as a key provider of energy solutions and long-term owner of large-scale U.S. energy infrastructure.
The completion of the project, with a total investment of $4.5 billion, is scheduled for 2029.
Upon completion of the deal, the Steel River project with a capacity of 2.45 GW of solar energy and 720 MW of batteries will become one of the largest projects using American-made structural steel and solar panels from manufacturers in the United States.
In 2025, solar panels and energy storage accounted for 85% of new electricity generation capacity in the United States. The Steel River project is one of the most significant investments in new U.S. energy infrastructure.
In addition to economically producing solar electricity, battery power increases the reliability of the power grid, meets peak electricity demand, maintaining stable prices and reducing the likelihood of power outages.
Earlier, Cypress Creek Renewables raised more than $3 billion from investors as part of a financing round to implement new projects and expand its operations.
Cypress Creek Renewables is an American independent electricity producer. Cypress Creek Solutions' flagship operating platform serves more than 4 GW of energy assets and includes more than 200 projects in 24 states. The headquarters is located in Santa Monica, California.
Swift Current Energy is an American renewable energy financing and project management company in North America. The company is headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts.
