Brazilian Critical Minerals Limited (BCM) has entered into an agreement to acquire 90% of magnesium sulfate producer Sais Nordeste Indústria e Comércio Ltda. This is reported in a press release. Critical Minerals.

As part of the deal, Mineração subsidiary BBX do Brasil Ltda will launch its own production of magnesium sulfate used for the extraction of rare earths as part of the Ema project. BCM's initial production facilities will provide 50% of Ema's magnesium sulfate needs, with a potential of up to 100% of the projected project needs.

The development of domestic magnesium sulfate production is aimed at reducing Ema's dependence on Chinese reagent supply chains and strengthening quality control and continuity of supply of critical components.

In accordance with the agreement, BCM will begin overseeing the financial and operational restructuring of Sais Nordeste, including the settlement and renegotiation of old debt obligations in the amount of 4.2 million Australian dollars over 10 years.

Sais Nordeste is a Brazilian manufacturer of industrial chemicals, including magnesium sulfate. The plant operated until February 2026, when the company was subject to bankruptcy law due to its inability to fulfill financial obligations. The headquarters is located in Feira de Santana (Bahia, Brazil).

Ema Rare Earth is a project for the extraction of rare earth metals by ion adsorption on clay rocks in the state of Amazonas (Brazil).  The project uses a solution of magnesium sulfate to extract rare earth elements.

Brazilian Critical Minerals Limited is an Australian exploration and mining company with headquarters in Perth (Western Australia). The company develops deposits of critically important minerals, primarily rare earth elements and platinum group metals.
