Rostec's Nacimbio Holding has become the sole owner of FORT, the largest Russian producer of flu vaccines, as a result of increasing its stake in the company to 100%, Rostec informed.
FORT has built up integrated biotechnological production in compliance with the applicable GMP standards. In 2020, the company supplied vaccines as part of the national preventive vaccination campaign and under direct contracts with the Russian regions, exported vaccines to the Republics of Belarus, Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
Going forward, the company's capacities make it possible to ramp up quadruple vaccine production to 50 million doses per year. The company's prequalification by the World Health Organization is currently underway. This, once completed, will increase the export potential of Russian flu vaccines and provide opportunities for entering the markets of Europe, North America and Southeast Asia, the statement emphasizes.
