Hoteliers in Egypt have begun to reduce prices for the summer season. The discount now reaches 50%. The decline in prices is due to the beginning of the "low" summer season, as well as the desire of hoteliers to stimulate the interest of Russian tourists, which has sunk somewhat amid the crisis with air traffic.
Russian tourists have the opportunity to relax in Egypt at affordable prices. Rates for hotel accommodation have decreased from 20 to 50% compared to the beginning of 2022.
This information was shared by representatives of Rixos and Albatros hotels in demand among Russian tourists during a series of business events held in Sharm el-Sheikh as part of a press tour organized by the TEZ TOUR tour operator and timed to coincide with the launch of charter programs of this tour operator to Egyptian resorts.
It should be noted that the words of Egyptian hoteliers are confirmed by fresh ATOR analytics: the minimum prices of tours to Egypt in mid-June decreased by 35% compared to the end of May.
IN EGYPT, THE LOW SEASON, HOTELS GIVE GOOD DISCOUNTS
Answering a question from a correspondent of Vestnik ATOR about hotel prices for the summer season, Erkan Yildirim, managing director of the Rixos hotel chain in Egypt, said that since the beginning of 2022, prices in hotels of this particular chain have decreased for the Russian market by 15-20%.
Thus, according to Mr. Yildirim, hotels are responding to a slightly sagging demand from Russian tourists associated with a seasonal decline and a significant reduction in flight programs to Egypt.
"Our network has never focused on any particular market, but we can say that Russian tourists are important to us and they like our hotels. Now the share of Russian tourists in hotels in Egypt is 20-25%, which is less than it was before 2015 and at the beginning of 2022. We hope that with the increase in flight programs, the share of Russian tourists in our chain hotels in Egypt will reach 35%," said Erkan Yildirim.
The top manager of Rixos emphasizes that the summer season in Egypt is as comfortable as the winter season.
"Summer Egypt is an opportunity to save up to 30% on vacation, but at the same time it's just as great to relax as in the winter season. Tourists who are vacationing in Egypt in the summer know that the unbearable heat is more a stereotype than the truth. After all, despite the high air temperature, it is easily tolerated here due to the fact that Egypt has a dry climate, the heat is dry," said the managing director of the Rixos hotel chain in Egypt.
NEW RIXOS PROJECTS IN EGYPT
He recalled that there are 4 Rixos hotels in Egypt: 2 in Sharm el-Sheikh, one in Hurghada and one on the Mediterranean Sea – Rixos El Alamein. The total number of rooms of the chain hotels in Egypt is 2500 rooms.
"At the moment we are working on a new project. Now the first phase of construction is underway, the second should be completed in 2023. We are preparing one of the biggest projects in Egypt. It will be a 3000-room hotel, there will also be a theme park, a water park, an amusement park, such as The Land of Legends in Antalya. It will be one of the biggest Rixos hotels in the whole world. By the end of 2022, 1000 rooms and 38 villas will be opened. The project will be completed by the end of 2023," Erkan Yildirim said.
Moreover, the hotel chain is planning two more projects in Hurghada.
"We cooperate with the Accor Hotels chain. Under the management of Rixos Hotels, we will have several hotels that are owned by Accor Hotels. These will be hotels operating under the all–inclusive concept," Mr. Yildirim said.
BOOKING HOTELS IN EGYPT THROUGH TOUR OPERATORS IS 15-20% MORE PROFITABLE
Rixos reminded that booking their hotels through tour operators is more profitable than directly: the savings will be about 15-20%.

Saher Raafat, general representative of the Albatros hotel chain, also noted that Russians occupy the first place in terms of the share of guests, although, of course, there are fewer of them now than there were.
"Since the resumption of charter programs in 2021, Russians accounted for 40-50% of the total number of tourists in our hotels. Before the charters were closed, it was 50-60%. Now the share of Russian tourists in our hotels reaches, depending on the specific object, 15-30%. But we are striving to return to the figures of 40-50% of Russian guests, as it was before," Mr. Raafat said.
Prices in Albatros hotels are now reduced to 50%, he confirmed. In total, 11 Albatros hotels accept guests in Egypt. The Albatros Palace and Albatros Vista hotels are most in demand among Russian tourists, Saher Raafat said.
The total number of rooms of the chain hotels in Sharm el-Sheikh is 3.5 thousand rooms, but next year it is planned to increase this number to 4 thousand rooms. A new, already the eighth hotel of the Albatros chain in Sharm el-Sheikh with 500 rooms, and three new hotels in Hurghada with 1.5 thousand rooms will be opened.
