Aircraft, including the IL-114-300, will be able to receive timely warnings about ice formation on critical surfaces. Rosaviation has certified an icing detector developed by OKB Aerospace Systems from the Dubna SEZ, the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region reports.
"Manufacturers from the Moscow region are actively involved in ensuring the technological sovereignty of the country. The developments of our enterprises are constantly replenishing the relevant federal registers. Another development from the Moscow region will ensure safety in the field of air transportation," said Ekaterina Zinovieva, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region.
The device detects ice on an airplane or helicopter and warns the crew. This helps to assess the risk in time and take the necessary measures, especially when flying in difficult weather conditions. Such a system is important for the IL-114-300, which is planned to be used in the Arctic, Siberia and the Far East, among others.
The certification, including qualification tests, took more than a year. The alarm system was tested in a wind tunnel during artificial icing, as well as tested by lightning and vibration. OKB Aerospace Systems specializes in the development of on-board equipment for aircraft.
