TMX-Electrotech (part of TMX Energy Solutions) has started producing asynchronous traction motors of four new types. They are used in modern electric trains, shunting locomotives and electric locomotives, as well as in subway cars. Previously, engines of these types were not produced in Russia.

Total investments in the project to develop the production of engines for locomotives, subway cars and motor-car rolling stock amount to 6.7 billion rubles, of which 5.2 billion rubles in the form of two concessional loans were provided by the Federal Industrial Development Fund (FRF).

TMH-Electrotech carried out a partial reconstruction of the existing workshops and purchased 49 units of new equipment, half of which have already been put into operation. After the launch of the entire machine park, the company will increase the production of traction motors for modern locomotives by 35% — up to 5,700 units per year, and will also ensure the annual production of up to 2,700 units of traction motors for electric trains and subway cars.

In Novocherkassk, production of traction asynchronous electric motors of four new types has begun: DTA-380U1 engines for modern electric trains "Ivolga 3.0" and "Ivolga 4.0", DTA-170 electric motors for metro cars "Moscow 2020", "Moscow 2024" and "Baltiets", DTA-200T electric motors for the latest shunting locomotives TEM23 and DTA-125 engines for shunting electric locomotives EMKA2.

"The launch of production of asynchronous traction motors of four new types at the enterprise is of great importance not only for the Rostov region, but also for the whole country. This is a vivid example of the successful implementation of the policy of import substitution and the achievement of technological sovereignty in the most important industry – railway engineering," said Deputy Governor Igor Sorokin. - Investments in this project in the amount of 6.7 billion rubles, of which a significant part is secured by preferential loans from the Federal Fund for Industrial Development, indicate a serious approach and trust in the company's potential. The launch of a new production facility will not only provide railway transport with domestic components, but will also create 481 new jobs in the Rostov region, which will have a positive impact on the region's economy."

"TMH-Electrotech is striving to expand its own production of electric machines to provide railway engineering with domestic components within the framework of intra-holding cooperation and to ensure Russia's technological sovereignty in the field of rail transport. Thanks to cooperation with the Industrial Development Fund, it became possible to implement a project with localization of the entire line of operated traction engines at once with access to the required capacities in one investment cycle," said Adel Mustafin, General Director of TMH–Electrotech LLC.

The customers of engines of mainline locomotives for freight transportation and engines of shunting equipment for work at railway stations are enterprises of the Transmashholding group – Novocherkassk Electric Locomotive Plant, Bryansk Machine-Building Plant and Kolomna Plant. The customers of engines for subway cars and electric trains are other enterprises of the group – Metrovagonmash, Tver Carriage Building Plant and Demikhovsky Machine-Building Plant.

In November 2024, the WEB.The Russian Federation, which coordinates the FRP on behalf of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, has begun to finance the expansion of production of domestic trains "Ivolga". A preferential loan of 7.5 billion rubles will allow the Tver Carriage Plant to increase the volume of production of these electric trains to provide Moscow central diameters that will connect the capital of the country with the capitals of neighboring regions. Only components manufactured in Russia are used in the production of electric trains.

In addition, other measures to support import-substituting projects are available to domestic large businesses. For example, within the framework of the taxonomy of technological sovereignty (a joint WEB tool. The Russian Federation and the Ministry of Economic Development), which the Russian Government has recently expanded, enterprises can receive preferential loans, guarantees from the state corporation VEB.The Russian Federation and attract investors by issuing bonds. Already 27 projects of technical sovereignty and structural adaptation of the economy have been selected for financing by commercial banks and VEB.RF.
