The 1695th issue of the bulletin "Branches of the Russian Economy: Production, Finance, Securities. Mechanical Engineering" of the AK&M Information Agency.

In August of this year, growth was observed in the Russian engineering industry for the ninth month in a row. Total production in the five machine-building industries was 6.7% higher than in August 2025. At the same time, there has been a reversal of the upward trend observed since November 2025. In general, it can be said that machine-building industries in 2026 show a tendency to increase production rates, while the results achieved are not homogeneous across sectors. In August of this year, Rosstat recorded an increase in industrial production in four out of five engineering sectors in annual dynamics. At the same time, the indices of industrial production and industrial demand calculated by the Institute of Problems of Natural Monopolies show a downward trend in September.

The value of exports of machine-building products in January—August 2026 amounted to $16.8 billion, while the volume of imports of similar products was 5.8 times higher - $97.7 billion. In annual comparison, the decrease in the value of exports in the first half of the year was 1.5%, while the value of imports increased by 15.2% yoy. A comparison of the first eight months of 2025 and 2026 shows that the differential between imports and exports of machinery and equipment in Russia began to increase again after reaching a local minimum in 2025.

A United microelectronic company has been established in Russia. This was announced by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The new structure should ensure that by 2030 the share of domestic products is at least 70% in key types of equipment, materials and chemicals. It is also planned to develop its own microelectronics design tools. OMK has already acquired the basic enterprise Integrated System. The company will not absorb private structures, but will act as an integrator and partner for the industry. OMK will pool resources for large-scale investments in microelectronic engineering and materials. The structure should build a full cycle from development to serial production. OMK will become the recipient of funds from the technology levy, which will be introduced in Russia on December 1, 2026.

The Russian government has expanded the list of equipment as part of a mechanism for increased advance payments for purchases of industrial products. The validity period of the increased advance payment for purchases of industrial products in the amount of at least 80% of the contract price has been extended until 2030, and the list of such products has been expanded by 22 positions. This measure will increase the financial stability of companies in the machine tool industry, the lifting and transport equipment and industrial robotics sectors.
