Bank of America Corp. (BofA) withdrew from the list of banks to organize the IPO of the Chinese AI company Moonshot AI amid close attention from American regulators. This is reported by foreign media with reference to a representative of BofA.

The decision highlights the delicate balance that American banks have to maintain in the AI sector, given the US accusations that Chinese companies have obtained patented developments to train their own models.

In 2025, BofA and JPMorgan Chase & Co. They rejected the deal with Chinese Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. and Zijin Gold International Co. at the request of the American regulator.

Chinese AI startup Moonshot AI is planning an IPO in Hong Kong in the first quarter of 2027. The only American bank that participates in the preparation of the IPO is Goldman Sachs Group Inc. as a sponsor along with China International Capital Corp. and Deutsche Bank AG

In July, Moonshot conducted a financing round with the aim of increasing the value to $30 billion, taking into account the launch of the latest Kimi K3 model, which surpasses all competitors in general characteristics, with the exception of Claude Fable 5 from Anthropic and GPT-5.6 from OpenAI.

The Chinese government has tightened its control over the sale of shares in Hong Kong companies, but is ready to support major developers in the field of AI and robotics, including DeepSeek, Unitree and Moonshot. Other companies in the AI sector, including competitors Zhipu (Knowledge Atlas) and MiniMax, have seen a sharp increase in capitalization since going public in Hong Kong in January 2025 and are collectively valued at $40 billion.

Moonshot AI is a Chinese company in the field of generative AI. The company is focused on developing Large Scale Language Models (LLM). The headquarters is located in Beijing (China).
