The Canadian investment company La Caisse has entered into an agreement with BCE Inc. to acquire 49.9% in the wireless communications division. This is reported in a press release from La Caisse.

The value of the transaction is 2.45 billion Canadian dollars ($1.7 billion). In 2025, La Caisse entered into a similar deal with Telus Corp., one of the three Canadian wireless carriers. A new company in the wireless infrastructure sector called TowerCo will become Canada's largest dedicated operator with more than 5,000 towers.

The deal aims to raise financing to reduce debt obligations and implement BCE's plans to create AI data centers amid slowing growth in the Canadian wireless communications sector. In September, BCE announced plans to expand the new data center four times to 1.2 GW in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

Telecommunications companies are among the lowest performers in the Canadian S&P/TSX composite index, having lost 15.6% at the close of trading on October 27. In search of other sources of income, BCE relied on an AI strategy and bought out the American regional Internet provider Ziply.

BCE Inc. is a Canadian telecommunications and media company providing wired and mobile communications services. The headquarters is located in Montreal (Canada).

La Caisse is one of the largest Canadian investors in the management of public and semi—public pension plans and insurance programs. La Caisse includes several subsidiaries and manages assets worth $352 billion. The headquarters is located in Montreal, Canada.
